BOOK - The ART of GEORGE McVAY & SHEILA from SHIELDS"

Sheila has admired the work of South Shields Artist George McVay from the age of 8 in 1948 when her Mam bought a set of his drawings commissioned by the local Paper "The Shields Gazette" that year. George was born 1902, Sheila in1940 and quite by chance their lives have followed parallel courses both in the subjects chosen, their precise accurate style and in the fact they both worked at times for the Gazette : support local charities and love their native town of South Shields.

With the enormous support of Janis Blower also employed by the Gazette in her job as Ace reporter and local historian Sheila has compiled a book that covers the history of Shields through "Janis' Jottings" and drawings and painting by George and herself.
