Sheila has been going through her remaining art work with a view to storing them as a local archive at The Discovery Museum Newcastle..
She has sold ALL her painting completed between 1961 and 1964 when she lived in the Pilot Office where her Dad Capt. George Graber served as Tyne Pilot Master . Here she drew and painted the view day and night from that lit up yellow window in the photograph.
There are loads of trees left in storage from all round the world and as she sorted these she happened to turn one over that she had drawn in 1958 at art school - to reveal this large 24 " X 14" pen and wash painting of the view of the Boatyard done in 1962/3 . IT IS THE LAST ORIGINAL OF THE TYNE PAINTED IN THAT ERA LEFT.. It is created in brown ink on brownish paper - but somehow the photo kept coming out more Black n White!. There is a tear in the paper (now stuck on back with sellotape) and it is unframed. Rather than keep as an archive, where it will be going next year, she would rather it went to a good home so she is asking £100 -(remember there are two drawings for the price of one!) which will also cover tracked posting & packing to anywhere in the UK - or deliver to the door in Shields.. and of COURSE all profit goes to her 3 charities.
