ORIGINAL- HAPPY MEMORY TREES 1953 Poster colour A3 framed,
In 1953 Sheila and her famly moved from the bright Lavington road house with garden where she had lived all 13 years to the dark Terrace house of her Aunt .. where her mam had moved to tend to her dying Uncle. Terrace houses are normally fine ,Shelia was to live in another in the future quite happily - BUT here her Aunt kept it as a shrine to her dead mother and NOTHING could be changed .. All dark dingy paintwork inside and no flowers or pot plants allowed. Sheila wonders now how on earth her Mam - who LOVED her garden- managed... she sat in her attic bedroom and painted this image of trees she remembered , as a memory of brighter days.
