PRINT- -15 Pilot's Jetty and Groyne 1986

Sheila's Dad became Tyne Pilot Master in 1947 when she was 7 so she and her brother Peter used the Tyne and the Pilot Cutters & Foy Boats as their playground.. a favourite spot was The Pilot's jetty where the cutters would anchor in between jobs. .. so she has painted and drawn it all her life. Here is the pencil drawing made in 1986 a study for the Pen & Ink drawing she was to produce later that year for the Shields Gazette Calendar. The observation is brilliant showing the exact structure of the jetty with great accuracy along with the fishermen on it just as when Sheila was a young girl. She reckons this was when her drawing skills were at their height .. and that they are "much sketchier" today!
