Sheila and her Mam moved into a ground floor flat in RIver Drive in 1964 when her Dad Capt G.W.GRABER -( PIlot Master ) died. Her Dad had become Pilot Master in 1947 but refused to move into the house that went with the job as "it would leave the widow of the previous Pilot Master. homeless." Ironic that one week after his death the next Pilot Master decided to move in - happily Sheila and Mam found this cosy Council Flat in River Drive very quickly . Sheila learnt a lot from this .. other things she learnt were that it was much easier to put the milk bottles out at night -had to go down 3 flights of stairs in the dark at the PIlot Office.. and the Community Sprit of the folks in the flats was GREAT...
