IN 1953 when she was 13 Sheila's Dad bought her a second hand set of oils paints via a Shields Gazette Advert. her Mam suggested she try them out by painting Jarrow Slake - just up the road from them in Shields. She remembrs sitting on the running board of her Dad's Old for 8 car and painting directly onto Hardboard this image that is now bequeathed to South Sheilds Museum and Art Gallery.Look closelt and yu can see a Tyne Tug in the B/G and of course Jarrow Staithes.
