PRINT-- MILL DAM WITH PIGEONS 6/6/23

Sheila has drawn and painted the Mill Dam on the River Tyne from 1963 to 2023 .. she set off today June 6th '23 to paint the piers and beach but it started to rain (strange in South Shields) so, as she always works directly from her subject, she drove a mile or so along the coast to the mill dam and painted this scene through her windscreen window - with the help of intermittent wipers. A couple of pigeons kindly posed to complete the scene.. making up for the lack of shipping.. and acting as a focal point. The old timbers of the jetty have been reinforced with metal girders .. but the place still retains it's character and charm .. even on a wet day.
