Sheila's dad Capt. George Graber had been appointed Pilot Master in 1947 and the flats above the Offices went with the job. They could have moved in at once but he Dad said he would not leave the former Pilot Master's wide homeless. She passed in 1960 and the family moved in.

Sheila says "I was so lucky to have a small room I could use as a studio - the one lit in yellow as it had a marvellous view of the Tyne. I was to make loads of drawing and paintings day and night of that, then busy, river from that magical vantage point."
