Sheila's Dad became Tyne Pilot Master in 1947 when she was 7 so she and her brother Peter used the Tyne and the Pilot Cutters & Foy Boats as their playground.. a favourite spot was The Pilot's jetty where the cutters would anchor in between jobs. .. so she has painted and drawn it all her life. Here is the drawing created in 1962 with her A1 drawing board and dippy in pen and ink bottle -standing on The Groyne . PIlot Cutters at the jetty - they could be the Caer Urfa, Progress or Tertia and with the High and Low Lights of the then busy North Shields Fish Key behind.
