"I have always admired the work of South Shields artist and draughtsman George McVay right from the age of 8 in 1948 when my Mam gave me the full set of his drawings for the Shields Gazette calendar for Xmas. Looking at my own work I see huge parallels both in the choice of local subjects and linear graphic style. The other day I was walking along the pier past the Volunteer Life Brigade Watch House.. and remembered that HE had drawn this years ago. When I got home I dug his drawing out and took a copy of oy on my phone with my paints to have a go myself. The viewpoint where he stood 77 years ago was today blocked with building work and an extra building.. so I went round the front to draw where I could also include Tynemouth pier in the distance."£20 covers frame - sturdy A4 acrylic and white plastic border , to hang on wall or free stand - (there are 4 other options available from £10 to £40) fee covers packing and postage to anywhere in the UK. any profit goes to our 3 charities to keep them on their paws too.
