Sheila's Mam- Doris Graber-Fitzgerald worked in her Grandad Hunt's herbalist shop in the market place from the age of 11 in 1912.
Her love of Nature and St. Hilda's church was passed on to her and it was at her Mam's suggestion in 1976 that Sheila set off with her cartridge paper pinned to her A1 drawing board and dippy in pen and ink to draw it. The original was given to a friend years ago - but luckily she took a photocopy of that drawing ( a rare event in the 1970's) and today in 2025 Sheila used it as a basis for this watercolour. Featuring not only the building but the magnificent trees that surround it to this day.
